Everest Neighbors Participate In “Adopt-A-Family”

Thanks to many Everest Neighborhood families (including a couple of neighbors who used to live in our neighborhood) the holidays were much happier for two eastside families. The two families were sponsored through the YES (Youth Eastside Services) “Adopt-A-Family” program. YES has noted a marked decrease in company and corporate giving which makes donations, like this one, from families and neighbors all the more significant. The donated gifts included items ranging from a bicycle and microwave to clothing to holiday treats.

Everest Grandstands Project Underway

Remember when Michael Cogle, our city’s Park Planning Manager, came to our meeting and briefed us about scheduled renovations at Everest Park? Well, it’s started, and, true to his word, Michael is keeping us informed! Here’s the latest from Michael…

Our project to replace the grandstands at Everest Park ‘A’ Field is underway. The contractor is scheduled to be done on or before February 20.

Demo of the existing structures is almost complete. Lumber material will be reclaimed and reused. Some lumber will be used to form footings for new structures. Concrete material will be ground up and recycled.

Everest Neighborhood Summer Picnic

You and your family are invited to the Annual Everest Neighborhood Family Picnic on Sunday, August 23rd. There will be lots of great food, wonderful conversations, the traditional water balloon toss, a “fishing booth” for small fry, and fun for everyone. Everest Restroom and Grandstand Replacement Project

Many thanks to Michael Cogle, Kirkland City Parks Dept Planning Manager, for attending our March meeting and briefing us on construction projects for Everest Park. The grandstands will be replaced this Fall; the storage building/restrooms update is on hold until there is funding for it.
